Fragile screenI never truly got to enjoy this item. I bought it, being a service member, so I could relax and play a few video games in my of time while deployed. While this item was being transported to my duty station, something rocked against the screen and cracked it, rendering it useless. The warranty did not cover the cracked screen since it was not a defect, and I wasn’t able to do anything about it since I was deployed and had no ability to reach the outside world. I’m sure this would have been enjoyable since I knew people that had it and were able to use theres. I just never got the opportunity. So if you read this and intend one traveling with it, insure that everything is secure inside of it and will not move around. The screen is very fragile and absolutely will break.

Don’t expect more than what is advertised. Enjoy mobility in console gaming.I’ve had the Vanguard for a couple weeks now, and it is delightful. I think the negative reviews must be from people who are expecting too much. It is a 19″ monitor, that does the job. It is not an elite gaming monitor, it’s just a monitor. The case is nice. My XBONE fits snugly and securely. The remote for the monitor works fine. The shoulder strap is really the way to go for carrying. The handle is a little janky, but since the strap comes with it, perfect. With all of the power cables and everything, there’s no room for my Xbox controller in the case, but since I travel with another bag anyway, no problem.Understand what you’re buying, and that it’s really the best portable solution for protecting your monitor and xbox, and it’s a great product. Enjoy!

Low quality productI’ve had this system for exactly 97 days and a pixel in the center of the screen just died (it constantly glows red, so it’s very distracting). In an attempt to return the unit for a replacement I’ve found the warranty period is only 90 days so I’m stuck with it. Obviously Gaems knows these screens are low quality and realize the likelihood of something going wrong because I’ve never heard of a manufacturer having a warranty period of less than one year and 90 days is just ridiculous. The screen also has poor contrast and it’s hard to find an angle where the display does the games any justice. Very dissappointed.

Awesome screen for gaming on the go.I owned an older GAEMS box, and this one is everything that one should have been, and more. MUCH MUCH improved screen, and seemingly better sound. If you want to travel with your PS4, XBOX, or anything else for that matter, this is the luxury way to do it.

Great toy with a bunch of caveats.Edit two years later: Please, at least read the addition I made later to the bottom, especially if you are a PS4 pro owner.Great buy considering it is the only real product in this market. But There are a lot of things to consider and I will try to keep it as to the point as possible.I am an airline pilot and I like gaming. I spend a lot of time away in hotels, so it seemed this was an amazing way to bring my fun with me so I’m more likely to get stuff done while I’m home. That part has worked. It’s very portable, works as advertised, and easy to set up and tear down.List time!Pros:-Decently sturdy case, hasn’t come open unintentionally at all really. It has a catch mechanism on the front middle, so that even if the two side latches come undone, you have to push in on the logo by the handle for it to release.-Good sized screen-Speakers are…. decent for what they are-The foam storage bags that come with it are great! With PS4, I can fit power cords, controller cord, HDMI cable, controller, Elgato gamecapture HD60 and USB cord, games. I store my games in those colored plastic sleeves and they just go under the console retaining strap. As long as you don’t have them stacked like 10 games high, it’ll be fine.-Two headphone jacksCons (gonna be a big one..)-Overall built to a price. All of the components are extremely low quality as noted below.-NOT 1080!!!! This is advertised as 1080i I’ve attached photos of the screen taken from an xbox 360 at different resolutions. You can see the difference between 480 and 720, but between 720 and 1080i/p, it is identical. I first noticed this when I plugged my laptop in and everything just looked off compared to my 1080p laptop screen. This accepts the 1080 signal but as far as I can tell, it is not an actual full HD screen. It DOES get the job done and usually you won’t notice it in games and videos, mind. But to me, this is false advertising, for which I cannot forgive.-One dead pixel (not covered by anyone, even in 2015 somehow…)-There’s a weird pattern you see in dark screens on games-I’ve seen that this isn’t just me, I do frequently (meaning quite often!) get what I call the white screen of death. You turn it on and the screen washes over with white. Unplugging USB or turning off console doesn’t fix it. You have to pull the power and try again. Sometimes it happens several times in a row, and with many different HDMI cables.-One REALLY big issue with usability: the system does not properly identify itself via HDMI. Let me explain, this is mainly an issue on the PS4 because as of today, you cannot manually change between stereo and 5.1 for HDMI on the console. Why is this a big deal? In some games, they don’t give you the option in game to change your speaker setup either (Watchdogs) which means the PS4 will be sending a 5.1 signal to a 2.0 speaker setup. You then realize how many important things come through the center channel in 5.1, including action noises, engines, voices, etc. So in games like that, you end up driving around hearing ambient sounds only. The above is not a problem if you use headphones on the controller like I do, but if you want to use the speakers, forget it if you can’t change to stereo in game.-Perpetual buzzing sound through headphones connected to headphone jack on PGE-While using PS4, the front lip of the case is not low enough. Ejected discs frequently get caught on the front of the case so you have to pull up a bit on the console first.-Carry on- Yes it generally does fit fine in overhead compartments on planes. There are exceptions: CRJ-200 and EMB-145 so far will not fit it. It does not work well under seat in front, though possible. If those two options don’t work, you’re sending it under. Better hope it doesn’t get broken because baggage handlers are not careful. They throw stuff around a lot. There are a lot of little issues with this unit. That said, for the price, it is a great thing to have. I use it A LOT. I really wish there was a more expensive unit with a higher end screen and components.A lot of people give negative feedback because it does not have a battery. Seriously people. My high end car battery jumper/portable power supply will power my laptop for only 2 hours. This thing would weigh a metric ton with a battery, not to mention more reliability issues. If was truly as advertised (1080i), and didn’t have a dead pixel and the random white screens of death and the disc eject issue, I’d give it a 4/5.Edit: Three years of ownership, and over two years since my original review. Apparently I did a good job with the original based on the feedback. Here is an update. To keep expectations in check, I am leaving everything above intact though. I am an airline pilot. When I do bring this, it does get put through its paces. I fly (commute) to work, then usually work 4-5 days. This thing gets thrown into hotel vans, thrown in the overhead, and overall moved and pulled around airports on my bag a ton. In three years of intermittent heavy use, no new issues. It has even been dropped once. I was sure I was screwed. It was all fine.PS4 PRO OWNERS: I have had the pro for a year. I’m sad that they haven’t updated this for that system. They responded to a query from me that they can not recommend that I use it for the pro. That said, I have found that if you put it in sideways, front to the right hand side with the right side lined up with the indentations on the pad, it works well enough. I also recommend trying to keep the power cord plugged in carefully when you transport. The PS4 power plug is clearly not designed for frequent unplugging and plugging in. At your own risk, I can confirm that it is possible. But if at any time you have difficulty closing the lid, do not force it. Move stuff around and try again. If you do break it, be a good customer and accept that you bent the rules. But I can say that it can work, and has worked for me.Because it has stood up to three years of abuse and they apparently have edited their details about the screen resolution, I think it is fair to upgrade this to a 4/5.If you love games and travel, are a pilot, or just like to go to a friend’s place with it, I do recommend this product. For the combined price though, you might be better off getting a laptop than going out and getting a pro or xbone X and this. But it has been a great, durable companion so I can bring what I love with me while doing a job I love (NO, not in the cockpit).

Great for travelI travel often for work so I picked one of these before heading overseas for my last job. I was really worried that it would not survive flying all the way overseas through multiple stops but sure enough it did. Both the screen and my PS4 one made the trip without damage. As for the actual device. It has a very nice sleek look to it. It’s really easy to lug around with the shoulder strap that comes with it. The sound is really surprising. Even at its default sound of only 50/100 it is more than loud enough for how close you will be sitting to play it and with good quality sound as well. The screen is a decent size for gaming as really in my opinion anything over mid 20’s is too big for gaming. However the quality of the screen is only 720 and while not as noticeable on a small screen like this you can still tell. For the 300 dollar price tag they could have thrown a 1080 in it. My only other negative for this product is that the hooks that attach the sling to the case are a part of the sling instead of the case itself. So rather than clipping the sling to the hooks and it being 100% secure you kinda wedge the hooks into a little groove on the case. While walking through the airport the sling got caught on something and came unhooked. If not for me having my hand on the handle I would have dropped it. In the end though I would highly recommend this product to anyone in the military or who simply travels a lot.

Works with PS4 pro but has to turn it sideways. (See pic)Exactly as expected. My advice is to turn down the sharpness. Will help the image quality quite a bit. Still folks it’s 720p.. NOT 1080 or 4K.

Vanguard is awesomeSo i had toyed with the idea of buying one of these for a while and being away a lot for work and having to leave my Xbox at home meant i spent alot of time in hotel rooms bored, so i took the plunge and i havent been disappointed its very well made the way its been designed to fit multiple different consoles and still having room for leads etc is great, the screen is only 720 but if im honest it is still a great picture on the 19in screen. Alot of websites states a con is the weight but i dont think it weighs to much with console installed. Cant believe i went this long without it

Cracked screen on a amazon wharehouse reconditioned I’m deploying shortly so been waiting till I had the money to grab one of these products. I’ve read good reviews. So the product itself I’m not complaining about. This review is to show that amazon have accepted a returned item. Not done a proper check over of the product. And then re sold the item out. And I’m very angry about what I received. Attached is a photo and video of the damage.I’m now going to have to hope I can get one before I deploy.
