Excellent screen, long battery life, but heavy, and so-so touchFor over 30 years, I have been a tech enthusiast who had also been in the Information Technology (IT) field for nearly two decades. Over that time, I have seen people increasingly use mobile devices more than desktop computers, and therefore, the need for portable displays for use as secondary screens has also increased.SHOPPING FOR PORTABLE MONITORSTwo years ago, I purchased an Acer PM161Q ($130) to supplement my then-Surface Pro 5 with a secondary display. It was a first-of-its kind, portable monitor that was lightweight, but it also was a nightmare of a device to use due to compatibility issues. First, it would not work with any of the Surface Pros and HP laptops, but I was able to connect it to a friend’s Dell laptop. At the time, I could not find information from Acer or Microsoft about why the monitor would not work with the Surface Pro or HP laptops. Turns out, Thunderbolt 3 was required.Fast-forward 7 months later, and more computers now supported Thunderbolt 3 — except for the Microsoft Surface devices (by design) because Thunderbolt 3 is vulnerable to allowing a hacker to grab data from your computer. Any computers made before 2019 should avoid using Thunderbolt 3, in fact. Security issues aside, the Acer PM161Q did work so well with my work laptop, the Dell XPS 13 P73F (supports Thunderbolt 3), my manager decided to get one for the team to help us do our jobs easier when on travel.More portable monitors have been released since.I had previously evaluated the 15.6″ Mukesh X1 ($150) and liked it quite a bit because it did not require a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, but what it did lack was what I missed from the Surface Pro devices: a touch screen. Most of the decent-looking displays with touch capability ran for at least $100 more than the Mukesh X1, but during the search, one device very much captured my attention: the 15.6″ UPerfect MDS-156G16 ($305). What made it stand out? Touchscreen, built-in battery, IPS, AND 4 speakers! A similarly-equipped Asus Zenscreen MB16AMT (with 25% less battery capacity) costs $340. I loved it — except for one thing: No built-in kickstand.I was happy to see that Uperfect came with another display, but this time, it had a kickstand built-in that could be used in both portrait and landscape orientations. No battery, however.PROS- IPS HDR 1920 x 1080 FHD: Excellent brightness, sharpness, and 160 degree viewing angle– Perfectly visible from practically any angle and distance. Viewable in sunlight- Built-in kickstand for vertical/horizontal orientation– Allows up to 110 degree angle adjustment similar to the Microsoft Surface devices- Excellent contrast ratio, but bear in mind that this has nothing to do with how bright of a display is- Plug and Play– Worked right away when connected to a Samsung Galaxy S21+ and Dell XPS 13 P73F laptop. No drivers needed to be installed– With the Samsung phone (USB-C to USB 3.1), Samsung’s DeX Desktop turned the UPerfect into a Windows-like interface— DeX can be turned on/off for use as a Desktop or to mirror phone’s screen— With a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, you could literally make your phone turn the UPerfect into a computer– Does not require USB-C Thunderbolt 3— Video worked with 2015’s Surface 3 (non-Pro version) via Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI- 5-point Multi-Touch (with USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to USB 3)– Pinch and Zoom capability just like on a tablet/phone– Touch behaved differently in Windows 10 when used as Extended or Duplicate Display (See CONS section below)- Priced well for a product of this type- Started up in a few seconds, ready to display whatever was on the phone or laptop- Can be used while charging (but requires 2 cables)- Great for presentations, watching movies, and gaming- Multiple cables included- Built-in speakers- Flashy LED colors at the back (which I don’t care for)CONS- No built-in battery- No Bluetooth for external speaker connection- OSD (On-Screen Display for information/monitor configuration) stays on for way too short (should be 2+ seconds longer)– You have to be a quick reader or continuously press one of the buttons to keep information on screen- Speakers were not very loud and sounded tinny- Not VESA mount compatible- Flashy LED colors at the back could be distracting in a business environment- Cannot be used as a standalone movie display– If it had USB-A and/or microSD, it would have been nice to be able to watch a movie off of them- When used as an External Display with Windows 10, monitor only worked as a large touchpad for the Primary Display– Could not use touch for what was displayed on the monitor itself (only worked when used as Duplicate Display)- 5-point capacitive touch won’t be as responsive as 10-point, but it worksTIPS/NOTES- In Windows, you can configure the computer to use the UPerfect monitor as Extended (additional screen) or Duplicate Screen– Activate it by pushing the “Windows + P” keys or go to the Notifications taskbar and choose “Project”INPUT/OUTPUT PORTSThe following explains what each connection port can/cannot be used for:- USB-C– As input: Touch and audio/video (depends on cable, connected device, and must support Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.1)— Touch, audio, and video worked with Samsung Galaxy S21+ phone (USB 3.1) and Dell XPS 13 P73F laptop (Thunderbolt 3)— If device’s USB-C only supports charging, then use USB-C to Mini-HDMI cable (not included) instead— Supported devices: MacBook 2016 and later, HP/Dell laptops, Galaxy S8/Note 8 and later, etc.- USB-C PD (right of display) in: only for charging the monitor. No audio/video transmission– Cannot be used to charge other devices. It’s power IN only- Mini-HDMI in: audio/video– Connect power to monitor FIRST before plugging Mini-HDMI cable in– Use with USB-C to USB 3.0 cable to enable Touch- microUSB OTG in: only for mouse/keyboard useFINAL THOUGHTSOverall, I found the IPS HDR display beautifully bright and viewable from a wide angle, and its 5-point touch performance was responsive, though not as good as 10-point ones. With no built-in battery, you will always have to carry around the AC wall charger or an USB-C PD cable for charging. The built-in kickstand addressed one of my biggest gripes about the other monitor I own, but sadly, a few sacrifices were made (ie. 5-point touch) in order to perhaps keep the cost down. The monitor could be used for a variety of cases, including as a portable, additional computer screen, enlarged monitor for mobile devices/phones, and gaming via the Mini-HDMI interface (ie. XBOX, Nintendo Switch, PS4).- As an office worker, spreadsheets and reports can be processed easier in landscape or portrait orientation while freeing up the primary display for other things.- As a gamer or for media consumption (movies), the large screen can provide a more immersive entertainmentThe biggest issues I have with the product are that it is somewhat heavy and cannot use a single USB-C cable for both charging and playing audio/video. Regardless, this monitor is a fairly good buy with its many connectivity options for use with laptops, mobile devices, and gaming systems.

Amazing portable monitor. Great valueI’ve been using the monitor as a daily driver for about a month. Very happy with the display, build quality and color reproduction. It has a variety of ports for connectivity and came with all necessary cables too.It is very bright for my needs and I usually keep brightness level to 50%. The 10 point multi touch screen is amazingly good and I did not experience any kind of lag so far. The best thing I really love is the stand. It is small yet sturdy and extends further when you want to switch to portrait mode. Also lights up red when powered on.I used the monitor thru USB-C interface of my laptops(HP spectre, Lenovo Thinkpad and Surface book) and it was good enough for both power and display. Never had to use the separate power adapter. It also has a speaker, but I didn’t get a chance to use it much since I prefer a headset. The text display is also sharp and I didn’t have any issues reading the code/text on screen which is much desirable being a programmer. Overall I’m very satisfied with the purchase and would strongly recommend this if you’re looking for a touch screen based 1080p portable monitor. Will keep this review updated.

Perfect as either a primary or support monitorI initially thought I’d be using this monitor as my secondary screen for Webex calls and sharing screen. The reason is, I have another monitor with an unusual aspect ratio that will not fit as well on others’ monitors when screen sharing, making things hard to read/see.After several weeks of using this monitor, I usually find myself using this as my primary screen frequently with Teams and Outlook sitting in split screen in my larger monitor and just standing by. The reason is, this monitor has such a great definition and it’s so sharp, even more so than my 34 inch monitor that I thought was really good. I’ve used this monitor for both productivity (spreadsheets, documents, presentations) and a good share of Netflix and YouTube. It does extremely well in both cases. Wanted to give a test to the new season of Stranger Things as I thought some of the dark scenes will definitely put the sharpness and contrast of the monitor to the test. I was pleasantly impressed with the results. To my eyes, it was as enjoyable as watching it in my IPad Pro.Also, did I mention it’s a touch screen? I have a really cool use case I wanted to test. I do a fair share of flight simulation, as well, and I wanted to see how this monitor will work to placing some of the cockpit controls on this screen. The result? Touch was precise and extremely responsive, I don’t need to use a mouse to reach out to a knob, switch, or button or have a dedicated piece of hardware for it. This was definitely an extremely nice and unexpected addition to an already great monitor.I was able to connect this monitor via a single USB C cable. Not having to connect two cables, one for power and one for signal, is also very convenient and helps with cable management and keeping my work space clean. The kickstand is also sturdy and both controls and cable inputs are conveniently located on it. Monitor controls feel responsive and provide a very positive feedback when you press them. Finally, I appreciate function over form, still I personally find the the monitor aesthetically pleasing the slim design and sturdy case make it feel like a premium tablet with the difference that has the convenience of multiple USB C and HDMI ports. So far, it has been a great addition to my home office setup.

Wow!!! It’s really great to fulfill my needed !!!After great experience using UPERFECT true 4K portable monitor, I also got great experience with UPERFECT support team to troubleshooting. I would like to try this portable touchscreen monitor due to my work needed. In almost 2 months usage, the resolution of this 1080p monitor is very good and fulfill my daily work. I could directly plug in usbC cable to my Lenovo Thinkpad (Window 10) with this great touch screen to read lots of PDF literatures and it’s easy to highlight my notes. The monitor is looking neat by hiding all cables in the back kickstand. Overall, my user experience is great with this excellent performance of this monitor and affordable price.

Flexible display for a nice low profile second monitorI purchased this as a second monitor for my office. I have a small desk and wanted to still see clients on the other side of the desk. This monitor sits nicely and is not higher than my deskphone, but can be made higher if needed. It allows me to multitask much better and still see the face of my clients. The display is great. Very clear. It is also very stylish. Set up is straight forward. Definitely worth considering for a good second screen. I also like the ability to flip it around and show clients what I’m seeing.

Fantastic customer supportWhen I initially bought the touch monitor, it worked once. The following day it would not work properly. I contacted support and they offered solutions in a timely manner. They ended up shipping out a replacement monitor since the solutions offered did not work. The replacement monitor received now works great with my Samsung phone! I mainly use it with the Samsung Darex feature which shows me to use an app on my phone and another app on the monitor. Great for multi-tasking. I can turn the Samsung Darex off and screen my phone to the monitor if I want to. The picture quality is crisp & bright. The best part of the monitor, is the touch feature. The customer service received is one main reason I would consider purchasing their products in the future.

Great customer support & monitorThis is the 3rd or 4th portable monitor that I’ve tried and by far the best one. Its lightweight, and crystal clear. The touchscreen works great as well. The first monitor of this style that I ordered was defective but I reached out to customer support directly and they were prompt with troubleshooting and replacement support. I now have the replacement and everything works great. Some of the best customer support I have experienced. I highly recommend.

Product is good and support is amazingKiki and her team have been amazing to try and resolve my issue. Although I had issues with the product, the commitment to a satisfied customer is CLEARLY their ultimate goal.Remember, anyone can sell you a product, but its the follow up that matters. Kiki is very willing to be responsive. Only thing I can complain about is the fact they don’t have an 800 number.

Very nice monitor. Touch sensitivity with any stylus is poor.Good monitor. Sound works. Kickstand adds weight but comes in handy. Touch sensitivity with finger is excellent. If user will require a stylus heavily or is not proficient with touch screens already this might not be best fit.Had to return because my user was not able to work with the sensitivity level.

Once you adjust brightness this monitor is perfect. This monitor arrives defaulted to only 10% brightness so you have to adjust. The instruction manual is a little misleading. The “roll wheel” adjusts volume but if you push it you can access the settings menu and bring up the brightness (this isn’t called out in the manual). I had to google where the Menu button is but once you figure out that secret this monitor is perfect for travel or working from home. Mfg needs to make one small adjustment to the instructions to save customers some frustration. Great monitor. Five stars.
