Hands down, one of my favorite purchases.I have been photographing for 4 years now as a hobby and sometimes paid activity. I have shot on Canons, Nikons, and now have moved to Sony. I had mated a Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 to my Alpha series camera but found that I needed autofocus in my line of work. I had the same troubles that everyone else had, do I purchase a 30/35mm or a 50/55mm? I decided to go with the 30/35mm choice, Sony typically has a 1.5x crop sensor on their mirrorless crop series, and I decided to go with the 30mm for a 45mm equivalent.I did extensive research on if I should purchase the Sigma 30mm or Native Sony 35mm. I ended up taking the leap for the Sigma and, W O W.This lens is sharp, I mean, really sharp. With f/1.2, you’re going to expect that, I was ready for sharp portraits and this delivers. In my research I found that the Sony and Sigma both share the same amount of sharpness, within about 5%. However, the Sigma allows the beautiful low light ability of the f/1.2, shooting inside is easy. The lens itself is of great Sigma quality, though, one thing that is a bit interesting is that this Sigma lens does not come with a padded insert in the package itself, no problem though, the packaging was perfect. The lens is larger than the Native Sony lens, but I love the hand feel, the large rubber focus ring is great to hold, spins with just the right amount of resistance, and looks great. The lens hood is not some cheap plastic knockoff, it is Sigma branded and looks amazing, it is also reversible. You can view all sorts of reviews on this lens online, and I’m sure that you have been doing your research if you are reading this review. But let me tell you about what really sets this package apart:For $10 more, you are getting so much with this travel package. I am a big fan of Altura’s products, and nothing has changed with this package. The backpack is nice, small, easy to carry around. I have a photo bag already but plan to keep this one due to its travel size, it fits my mirrorless perfect with just enough gear for a hike! The filters, “meh”, I don’t ever use filters, so I can’t honestly tell you about them. The pistol tripod is neat, and the 67″ monopod is quality – metal with rubber feet and adjustable spike on the bottom. You honestly can’t beat spending the extra $10 from the lens only price to pick up all these extra goodies. This is not the first time I’ve purchased from Digital Goja/Altura and will not be the last. I am very content with the purchase and price, and was ecstatic to see Sigma offers a 1 year warranty. So far, no complaints with the lens for photos. The autofocus is SLIGHTLY loud, it’s not as bad as my old Canon lenses, but if you don’t have an external mic, chances are you will pick it up. I haven’t had any focus hunting on the lens, so far it picks up what I want either first, second, or maybe third if we are talking small objects. This is a great lens, if you choose to pick it up, spend the extra few bucks and get this travel pack, you won’t regret it.

Autofocus is really terrible, but picture quality is really niceThis is the lens everyone recommended. The picture quality is very good – much better than my Sony lens, but the autofocus is terrible. I find this lens to be unusable for video work and I’m filming someone that’s sitting in a chair while my camera is mounted to a stand – nothing is moving other than the subtle movements of a person. Beards and hats make the face detection and auto focus freak out to where it can’t be used. Was hoping to use for YouTube vids on my Sony, but I couldn’t even get a few minutes of talking to work. Great lighting and person in a chair barely moving. The super basic Sony lens that came with my camera is soooooo much better with autofocus. Really disappointed with this purchase.

A sharp and decent prime len with low price for e mountBODY: well made with metal and plastic, feel solid and reliable when grasping.SIZE: fits well with a6x00 series camera, friendly for carrying with small backpack.WEIGHT: it’s not too heavy even though it’s a Sigma lens :). If you use camera like a6300 which has a metal body, the weight will be balance. I use a grip on my a6000, so it’s just fine too, without the grip I’ll feel uncomfortable. It’s a small size prime lens, so it’s for sure that it will be lighter than many of the zoom lens and even prime lens.IMAGE QUALITY: damn sharp, that’s my first impression. It’s still sharper at F1.8 than my 16-50 and 18-105 at F8, and it’s sharpness remains almost the same level at F1.4, still reliable. What you should care about is the dispersion at large aperture, if you really care, setting aperture down to F2.8 or lower will make it much better.AUTO FOCUS: fair (on my a6000), slower than Sony’s original lens (at least much slower than the kit lens and 18-105 I have), and a little bit hesitating at low light environment. Precise at most cases but you should double check when shooting at large aperture. The motor makes noice a little bit, which may be noticeable when shooting video at very quiet places. If you want a lens with about 30mm focus length on e mount for video shooting, s30 is not recommended because it has no OSS, louder motor, and auto focusing is not well enough, Sony’s e35 F1.8 can be a better choice even though it’s less sharper and more expensive. But if it is just for picture, this lens can be one of the top choices in all e mount lenses. Especially when you consider its price, every cons of it will be blown away.

Great lens, deffective items on bundle. – Excellent customer service (Updated review)I know this is a great lens, that’s why I bought it. I received it some time ago and I was pretty excited to get the whole bundle. I was looking for the lens but it’s always nice to receive the extras. It took me some time to get to try everything out and to my surprise, one of the items I really looking forward to use with the lens was the ND filter that came in the set. To my surprise, it’s a defective ND filter that is useless. The coating on the filter is irregular and it renders the photos useless giving them an irregular purple flare. I have used ND filters before and the photos can be color corrected, though in this case, its just a defect on the filter. Its a shame to pay some extra money and get items which don’t meet the quality of the lens.——————————This is an update after solving the issue with Digital Goja.I was annoyed about the fact that I had received a defective item which, for me, is very helpful in my workflow, and I had no expectations whatsoever of a response from Digital Goja. But this time the seller proved me wrong… I will for sure continue to do business with them. After stating I had received a defective item, I received a partial refund which was done without me even doing anything (or even asking). It’s good to know that as a customer I’m backed up a 100%. It was a true gesture of professionalism and proactiveness. A true surprise! I thank Digital Goja and congratulate you for their amazing customer care and for making this experience less difficult to cope with.

Very good!I was hesitant to buy this from Amazon esp. I do not know Digital Goja. I have asked feedback from my group of a6400 on FB and so far they have good reviews. I gave it a shot. Delivery was fast oh boy. Was not happy at first because it was on autofocus. I was not able to set it to manual because I dont know how to. When I started taking out the lens for the first time, I was blown. I registered it via Sigma website and it was legit (4 years US warranty) So I kept it. Then I started opening the free items. It’s not pretty bad. I like most the cleaning kit and cloth wrap for my lenses. I was planning of buying from B&H considering their customer service but I thought I gave them a try. I’m pretty sure with how I take care of my gadgets so my stuff would be safe but who knows. I will post about updates here all throughout.Compare b&h price and amazon price (I’m a prime member). Entirely the same, both legit and with extra items here.P.S. I am not sure this their customer services.

Awesome lens, excellent budget-priced camera acessory kit.Having just bought a new camera I needed a basic kit to go along with it. I was intrigued by the Sigma lens, and probably would have bought that by itself at some point. When I saw this kit, I found it compelling. The lens is awesome, I’ll leave that for others to review in detail. The kit itself contains everything you need to safely contain and use your camera and lenses. The monopod is high quality and feels very substantial. You could use it for a hiking stick, albeit a very heavy one, if you had to. The pack is surprisingly nice. The purple inside is pretty. Quality of materials and construction is first rate. The rest of the kit is comprised of useful, good quality pieces. The only component I was not particularly happy with was the little folding tripod thingy. It is kind of wobbly when deployed and would not be my first choice if I had a heavy DSLR. I tried it with a Sony A6300 mirrorless camera and had to use a delayed shutter to keep the camera from wobbling. It’s functional, and good quality, but more suited to a small point-and-shoot or smartphone. For backpacking I ended up buying one of these
Pedco UltraPod II Lightweight Camera Tripod
tripods which I will use instead of the one supplied with the kit.The camera bag is kind of a strange sling thing which I personally have a little trouble arranging on my body. Digital Goja has a tutorial on youtube which I should probably watch a couple of times to work out how to carry it. But I don’t plan to hike at all with the bag, it’s primarily used to contain and protect the camera, lenses and accessories. If I’m hiking I don’t carry the bag but instead use a Peak Design Capture Pro clip. It’s a good, inexpensive kit with a wonderful lens. Definitely worth it.

Really nice budget lens for Sony E MountI tested this lens on a Sony a6000, the attached photos are unedited. I had been looking for a medium range lens to round out my standard array of prime lenses. Having used the Sigma 30mm I’d have to say I’m very happy with the purchase. The focal length and wide aperture provide a lot of flexibility for all types of shoots, ranging from portraits to landscapes. Seems to work well in bright light as well as low light situations, although I haven’t tested the latter extensively. The lens is sharp on-center with limited falloff toward the edges. I haven’t noticed any vignetting or color casting. There is a bit of chromatic aberration on bright reflections, but much less than on my Sony 50mm f1.8. The auto focus also works quickly and I’m satisfied with the construction of the lens. This kit with the added accessories is also nice, especially the inclusion of a couple filters of surprising quality. I’ve been using the polarizing filter quite a bit. There are a few negatives, but certainly nothing that would prevent me from buying this lens again. This lens can get very, very sharp with manual focus but AF leaves a bit of sharpness on the table, which I find a little annoying. Also, the colors aren’t the most vibrant and I end up doing quite a bit of retouching.

Good quality for the priceThe media could not be loaded.
Great for the person who loves to snap all types of shots, videos or whatever. This lens has made my wife very happy! Well worth the money! We have a woodshop and take pictures of all our work with this lens. Take it on motorcycle rides and our animals love the pictures too!
