Description

Made just for mirrorless mounts is the new Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens. It is available in Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Sony E and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Its 35mm focal length equivalency for MFT cameras is 24mm, for Canon M cameras it is 19.2mm, and for the other three mounts, 18mm. With an f/2.0 maximum aperture, it is particularly effective in low-light capture and can control shallow depth of field for precise subject focus with pleasing out-of-focus backgrounds. It offers a minimum focus distance of 7.9″. The lens’s impressive optical construction consists of three Extra-low Dispersion elements, one aspherical, and one hybrid aspherical element. The nano-crystal coating is applied to the inner surface of the two front-most lens elements to minimize ghosting and flare and improve overall image clarity. The Rokinon 12mm accepts front filters and provides a 67mm diameter thread.

5/5 Considering the PriceThe media could not be loaded.

This lens is good value for money.I have attached a real estate video I shot with it. As well as, some test shots playing with its depth of field.I am using this on a CANON M50. I am not very experienced overall.Takes clear shots/video like any decent prime lens.F/2 Aperture gives you decent depth of field, but due to the 12mm focal length it focuses on a very wide area so you have to get pretty close to get the desired effect. It is manual focus.Which has caused some light issues, but helps keep it affordable. Because there is no electric motor connected to the focus adjustment, it takes a bit of force to adjust the focus. If you try and create a changing depth of field effect while recording video you will jostle visibly jostle the image. It comes with a lens hood and a nice bag which is a very nice touch. There are certainly better lenses out there, but this lens if perfect if you need a wide angle on your mirrorless camera. Because of the crop factor from EF-M cameras, you won’t get a fish eye effect like you would with 12mm on a full frame. You also can’t beat the price.

Great Value LensPro’s: + It does have a solid construction + It is easy to adjust + You will not knock this out of focus or F stop by holding the lens to capture a shot + The sun cover does help + It has a great depth of field + Great for video at 4k when the camera crops (M50) + Sharp details + The construction and mechanics never got loose after almost 1 year of use + Great for real estate photographyCons: It can suffer from chromatic aberration if left wide open and you are taking shots of a tree with a strong source of light breaking through (Fix is to bump the F stop to 4 – 8 depending on the situation, and bring the ISO to 200-400 if you truly need to) – It is slightly larger than the Canon options – It does not have autofocusTips: Make sure to use edge detect and other focus tools are enabled to make sure you are in focus + Get Filters to help with tricky shots + Keep focus in infinite and bring slowly into focus to walk it back towards your subject if shooting between 3-11 feet

Amazing Lens!Amazing Manual everything lens! For the price, this is the best astro-lens out there for the Canon EF-M mount!

  4. Randy

Decent for EFM systemWide angle and large aperture! Decent control of coma at the center of lens.

  5. Nathan

Best budget lensI got this for the EOS M5. The pictures are awesome. Sharp, low coma, little distortion, even wide open at f2. This lens works great for astrophotography with that big aperture. The milky way is a composite of three landscape taken wide open with ISO of 1600 and for 20 seconds, in the Mojave desert on a clear day but a bright moon was located off to the right. The Joshua tree was taken with aperture of 2.8, ISO of 1250, and a 20 second exposure.I cannot recall the aperture for the others, but they were taken around f5.6 – f8 (the stream was shot with a ND-10 filter)This lens transformed my EOS M camera into something I did not believe was possible. The M series is not know for good dynamic range and low-light performance, yet with this lens’ low aperture, it performed well in dark situations. Absolutely love this lens, and it is cheap! I bought mine used from Adorama and it is in great condition.

  6. Kyros

Great for astrophotography and landscapes, poor for infrared photographyBought this for my EOS M3 camera, mostly to be used for astrophotography and landscape pictures. I also do some infrared landscape photography on the side. This one functions well for the aforementioned tasks. It’s pretty sharp, its small, relatively light, and the build quality doesn’t disappoint either. But one of the more common flaws I’ve read from other reviews is that the infinity focus isn’t where it should be – and it isn’t. Mine is slightly after where the line is marked on the lens barrel. No biggie, but if you’re trying to rely on that for nighttime focusing, it can be a pain. Also, it’s not that good for infrared photography (using a filter, camera is not converted); there’s a very visible hotspot in the middle of the image when used. Otherwise, it’s a great third party lens for the EOS camera system.

This lens works great on my EOS M50.Great inexpensive lens. Focus throw is pretty comfortable. Creates sharp images. Highly recommend.

  8. LEOTHEPANTHERA

Love it. I love wide angle lensesLove it.I love wide angle lenses. And this one is f2.You can’t ask for more for the price.Plus you can quickly get used to the manual focus after a few tries.Just set it at one of the focus points and you’re good for anything from there to a few feet.So you don’t have to be constantly adjusting it.You’ll get the hang of it pretty quick. I’m saying this from just using it today. I just got it in the mail today and have been using it for a few hours and I love it.I have the Canon EOS M, and just remember to go into the custom settings and enable the shutter release even without a lense option to be able to use it.The instructions didn’t mention that.Great sharp, bright lens.

The lens itself is great but I think it should come with all the …Item arrived without lens hood. The packaging is obviously made to hold the lens with the hood reversed but the hood is nowhere to be found. The lens itself is great but I think it should come with all the items stated. -returned.Edit:Replacement finally arrived, I really love this lens.It allows you to capture wide scenes with very little distortion, The lens flares when shooting into the sun are quite nice with a vibrant rainbow coma and it can be used to add a dramatic effect to your shots. The optics are superb and produce very sharp images. This lens family from rokinon provides a unique capability that can’t really be matched without spending loads of cash. Can’t wait to use it for milkyway shots. When using on the M exposure metering doesn’t work for live view in M or Av because the lens is manual aperture, it does however work perfectly in Tv mode.

  10. Polar

Nice little lens, great value. This is an awesome lens for the price. Having a wide aperture allows you to play a lot with the depth of field.
