Good drive thought not as fast as I’d likeI started my External Drive shopping with the Samsung T7 and wasn’t happy at all as the write speed was hovering right around 100MBs. This is MUCH better than that but still nowhere near the stated 1000+MBs I was hoping for. Still, I’d recommend it.

This external SSD is as advertised, a tough little portable backup drive.This SSD is being used as an external storage device for my M1 Mac Mini setup. I’m not doing anything fancy with it, it will be used with Time Machine as well as a partition for other things. It’s an upgrade from my old external HD.

Excellent, FAST, Well-built solutionI purchased this device last week and installed it early this week to use as a primary drive to work in conjunction with the 1 TB SSD drive in the new Mac Studio I expect to arrive by the end of this month. This HD is SMALL, but an extremely well built tiger in this tank. The connection doesn’t appear to be as snug as I’d have expected but so far, so good. No interruptions whatsoever when in use, and set up was a breeze.Based on just one week of use I obviously can’t speak to long term use, but it clearly is a well designed and ostensibly well built unit I hope will last me a long time I highly recommend this product.

Amazing, quality driveI have moved past the other guys (G-tech, Western Digital, …) and am sold on OWC. This unit is fast, really sturdy, and works perfectly on macOS and Windows. There are lower-cost external SSDs but I can vouch for the level of technical support I have gotten from OWC. I have had two external units (not the Elektron) go bad and they fix it (or replace) from the USA as urgent care (fast!).
