Great Powered Bookshelf Speakers – needs a sub thoughI bought these for my turntable. I have the large Klipsch tower speakers and subs in my media room, so I decided to give these a whirl. After hearing these, they had me wanting more bass…. so I bought the 10” powered Klipsch sub and man, what a difference. These powered speakers have great mids and highs, but you really need a sub to get the full experience. I only gave 4 starts due to the lack of bass…. but what can you expect from a small bookshelf speaker? Great speakers!

Versatile. Klipsch with a modern touchI use these to listen to my vintage LP collection but they are also able to connect to my granddaughter’s phone so she can listen to her music through the amazon music app. The sound is everything I would expect from Klipsch reference speakers. These are small so don’t expect floor size speaker sound but with a small subwoofer it’s pretty darn close. These aren’t smart speakers but I like them a lot better than my paired Sonos speakers and homepod which cannot play my LPs.

Bang for the buckFirst off, I’m an audio guy. Every room in my house is loaded with vintage and new equipment. My wife and I are currently on an extended vacation at an Airbnb a thousand miles from home. No tunes! I brought my little B&O Bluetooth which is nice for outside but wasn’t cutting it in the house. I needed SOMETHING! Saw these puppies on Amazon on sale for $234. I snapped em up and wow am I impressed. Volume, clarity, and sound staging is brilliant for the price. Totally blown away for what they are and the price. Get them!

Bottom-line you cant get better audio quality for 2-fity.I like acoustics, this is like having a mini live concert in the living room. This is a company who prides itself on sound, they’re old school. The result is rich sound from the time of the range to the bottom. Voices sound like voices, guitars sound like guitars, drums thump and the horns blow. I didn’t get the subwoofer but the base is great without it. I’ll probably try the SW too. Awesome.

It was better than expected!I liked the fact that it had a built in preamp for my turntable.

Exactly What I Would Expect from KlipschAlthough I am still in the honeymoon phase, I am truly enjoying these speakers. I bought them for 2 reasons, to add some decent quality sound to the bedroom and run the TV audio signal through them. For some reason, the audio signal is really suppressed through the cable box and we have a hard time hearing the TV. These speakers enable us to hear the TV. The TV audio signal does not crank up very loudly, but that is not why I got the speakers. That is not due to the speakers; that is due to the audio signal coming through the cable box.The sound quality is superb. Whenever I am listening to new speakers, I give them a test drive with certain songs and artists that are recorded in a particularly high quality fashion. These speakers sound just great. I have not listened to them at a high volume over much extended time, but they sound great at low volume and high volume. Very small and compact, which is an attribute in my book. The only feature missing is a power on/off switch. The remote control works well, but it is small and light and probably has a limited lifespan. You turn them on manually by depressing the same big button that you use to select your music source. It is not clear how they are turned off. I looked through the Amazon questions and saw a response from Klipsch indicating that if you let them sit there for 15 minutes or so with no input, they will automatically turn off. I will have to test this soon. It seems that a simple on/off toggle switch would do the trick and would allay my concerns about the day the remote becomes broken or lost. I did a brief Internet search, and the best I could see was a universal TV remote replacement to replace the tiny remote that was sent with the speakers. Since there is a built-in amplifier, I believe it is important to turn these off when not in use.Speakers are all about sound, and these definitely have them. They pack a very solid punch in a very small and aesthetically pleasing package. No disappointments at all, and very happy with this purchase.

Good speakers with annoying issuesI was very excited for these speakers as a computer audio setup. I used the USB DAC connection option to connect them to the computer. The remote control is nice and worked well. The build quality was great. The sound quality was not what I expected but the speakers did get very loud without distortion. But there were two things that were really annoying and caused me to suspect some defect or issue. One was the audio delay when playing sounds. When you hit play in a browser or music app there was a 1-2 second delay before the sound kicked in… very annoying. The second issue was the hissing when nothing was playing. The hissing was loud and always there no matter the volume level. Only muting the speakers or turning them off would stop it.

These speakers put all soundbars to shame and sound like much bigger speakers. Perfect TV solutionI was really disappointed with most soundbars I listened to..even Yamaha…they all try to compensate for horrible sound quality with sound effects and it sounds synthetic..like fake burger meat. 5.1 is a misleading term as soundbars can’t even do simple stereo sound decently. For true stereo sound, you need to position speakers far from each other..so soundbars are fundamentally an inferior product….unless they make a 10 feet soundbar the size of a kayak.Enter Klipsch’s active speaker solution…I feel this is the best product for a home theatre solution for smaller city apartment..for movies, music & gaming. And they look very beautiful & elegant in your living room paired with nice speaker stands.Let’s be real..most of us who get these dont want passive speakers as going that route removes all the convenience of compact solution for small apartment…you need to buy a/v receiver, amp, cables..then ensure they all are compatible. These combine best of old school with new school features. With modern smart TV’s, all your audio can be routed automatically to these speakers via optical cable..you can airplay your music, chromecast youtube or use bluetooth 5.0 or plug in RCA (red/white stereo) cables or phono cables. What else do you need ?SOUND QUALITY:Since Klipsch designed the housed internal amp in this speaker, its optimised perfectly and there is no distortion at high volumes. Klipsch also added a feature called ‘dynamic bass EQ’ which gives really punchy bass at low volumes,…you place it close to the wall and you don’t even need to buy external subwoofer. At 30% volume level they are already loud enough if you sit 8-10 feet from TV…great for living room. If you have a bigger room then get the bigger cousin R51PM.PS4 games sound amazing on these speakers..shots fired in call of duty warzone sound larger than life.Music is enjoyable again & movies on netflix and amazon prime are so much more enjoyable. Stereo effect is really apparent and I don’t really feel the need for 5.1 surround sound speakers. The only feedback I have for Klipsch is..would’ve been nice to have some more EQ settings to ‘flatten’ the sound further for late night viewing or adjust the bass little more but thats just a small feedback..most devices or apps have inbuilt EQ settings anyway.

Amazing sound!I bought these for me, as a treat, and I absolutely love them. I use them just as studio monitors and they sound beautiful. These reviews about bad Bluetooth are just false, I have not had a single problem. If you see them on sale, TAKE THEM AND RUN!

  10. Nabu

Great Bluetooth SpeakersSounds as good as any other bookshelf speakers. I was impressed with the Bluetooth option. I bought the sub/speaker combo. Bluetooth connects automatically when powered on. Speaker remote controls subwoofer too, a plus.
