Fantastic flashThis flash uses a round flash head. Similar to the Pro Photo version. Which costs around 800-1000. This version of godox is suppose to create a softer flash pattern. It’s a very powerful light source. The total output is 76w/s so it’s putting out a nice amount of light. The rechargeable lithium Ion battery pack lasts incredibly long. 500 shots at full power. It used a 2.4ghz wireless system and can work in conjunction with other godox flashes. I use it with the godox x pro-s transmitter up to 100 meters in distance. They now use a locking mechanism on the hot shoe of my camera which I feel is much more secure than turning the dial to tighten the flash. I like to modify my/with a large soft box, a grid, or umbrella depending on the location I’m shooting. It also works really well when bouncing/off of the ceiling and walls creating a nice soft affect on my subjects. The head swivels and rotates backwards A few degrees which is really nice given that the other models do not do this the same way. TTL seems to be more spot on when getting consistent skin tones from your subject. Overall I would recommend this flash. It is high-quality and only a fraction of the cost when compared to pro photos version. It has a lot to offer and I will definitely be using it on my future gigs. I think I would ask does a really good job making high-quality products at an affordable price.

The V1 is what I have been waiting for!!I love the flash, the round head delivered a great even light that I needed for my group shots. After using it for almost 4 hours straight the rechargeable L-ion battery was not touched, still at almost 100%. The build quality is also nice! I also love the fact that I can control my other Godox lights with this flash on camera!! I was able to use 2 AD200s to light a large group in morning sunlight to open up shadows. I can be more happy with the way they turned out. It was at full power and the recycle tim was pretty good for an on camera flash. Im sure that’s because of the rechargeable battery! this flash is great all around! I will be buying more and using this seller!!! Extremely happy customer!!!

Works flawlesslyI have been using Profoto A1 (Canon) flashes since they were introduced. I have wanted similar flashes for my other gear, including Sony and Fuji. This V1S is my second v1, the first was for Canon, as I wanted to compare Profoto and Good units. Their output is indistinguishable. I’ve been waiting for quite some time for a Sony round head flash and grabbed this one when it was recently released. I used it last weekend to shoot about 400 images across several related Saturday AM events (mostly outdoors) and found it easy to use (with a Sony A7R3), easy to switch from TTL to manual and great for balancing ambient and flash in challenging lighting (dappled sun light from trees). I had no overheating issues, (but did not engage high speed sync–which is what most likely would trigger overheating) and the battery seems to go on forever. My only criticism is that the Profoto A1 has a far better interface and is even simpler to use than the V1, but the Profoto costs 3x Godox’s price (for the old A1) and 4x the price (if buying Profoto’s new A1x.) I’ve been quite pleased with the Godox V1 and have just ordered the Fuji version. Highly recommended.

Plastic Shoe mount breaks after few usesI have 5 v1s. So far 3 had broken shoe mounts. just by normal use. If your are planning to use this flash in top of the camera for event shooting things like that, eventually the plastic the hold together the flash shoe mount and the rest of the flash, breaks. I loved godox, but unfortunately I can’t recommend this flash

Affordable Quality!I had been using my old Canon flashes with an adapter on my A7iii’s. I hated not having TTL with that setup. For the price, my option was to go with Godox over the Sony flash. I love that this Godox has a rechargeable battery! We used it for a wedding and never had to change the battery all day. Recycle times seemed to be what I use to with my Canon flashes. I have yet to use the radio functions of it. I did purchase the magnetic dome diffuser. It was a nice soft bounce coming out of it, while bouncing into a 12 foot white ceiling in a dark room. The LED light comes in handy when you need a light for something as well. I used to fill in on an available light portrait. It worked great! It also worked great when somebody dropped a glass on the dance floor. 😊 I will most likely buy a few more and replace my huge strobes for room lighting at receptions. Just be sure to order a extra battery in the event you have 10-12 hour day to shoot. 👍🏻

Brilliant value flash with stellar battery lifeGodox has been coming out with some killer lighting kit for Sony E mount cameras. This flash (along with the accessories that I think are essential to modify light for flattering portraits, macro etc) has INCREDIBLE battery life. It mounts easily with the new clip switch. Improved menu over the 600 series. Integration with their newer remote triggers are seamless. There is a lot to like about this flash.

Worth the MoneyRecently Got this V1 to use on my sony A7III. It pairs up well with it. I tried the 860ii but not much impressed. I felt the new V1 collar is much more easier to connect to the hot shoe. It can also be controlled as a wireless slave unit from a command unit on camera like the Godox X-Pro. That i see as one big advantage. i am also impressed with the shape of the head is one of its most noticeable features. it is similar to H200R round head adapter for Godox AD200 . so any of the modifiers and filter of Godox AK-R1 kit will fit. The battery, the new collar, and button rearrangement are very needed upgrade ,. Overall, it feels like a fairly solid unit, with a light output and recycle time.

Not recommendedCons, Its price is a bit high. Shoe is PLASTIC (WHY?) and can be broken. if you lose the charger, the whole flash will be useless until you buy a new one. It is not being ready too fast. You have to wait 2-3 secs for the second shoot. It is too big, could be more compact. I wish I had more flash choices for Sony. Pros, N/A.
