    Excellent addition to the Godox flash system. Few negatives some of which have been addressedGodox V1N. First and possibly the biggest plus when talking about Godox lighting strobes and flashes is how well they work together as a system and the level of compatibility with accessories (although more to come on that).The battery life is excellent and even though the Li-Ion power block is only for the V1 and you can’t use AA rechargeable batteries, the tiny charger is small enough to pack and can actually be charged from a standard USB power source or even topped up from a portable power pack !The buttons and controls feel good except for the wobbly inner ring on the center dial which feels out of place.The display is good and changes color so you can see at a glance if you are in slave or command mode. TTL and HSS works on the Nikon DSLRs I tried and the Z6 mirrorless. The AF assist beam does not work with the Nikon Z6 and this is a current limitation with mirrorless bodies and any speedlight, not just Godox. I saw some early prototype reviews of the V1 at it appeared to show a white AF assist light that may have worked with mirrorless, but that feature was not on the production version.The V1 can be used as a controller for other Godox strobes and so is a great back up to the dedicated trigger. However, the Nikon version can only control 3 groups in addition to itself as master. I find this a strange limitation as the dedicated triggers can all control up to 5 groups.Currently the power is adjusted in 1/10 stop increments. I find this slow and hope that a future firmware update allows it to be set to 1/3 stop adjustments. The temperature over-protection is aggressive and triggered by a shot count rather than actual internal temperature. Apparently a firmware update has just been released to address this.The big talking point about this flash is the round head and it does a good job of producing a rounder light pattern, great for use with umbrellas and other modifiers however, this comes at the cost of a physically larger head. This meant that at launch it was difficult to use with my existing collection of gels and accessories. Godox had a pricey kit with several accessories, but these were not available individually. Fortunately now Godox are selling the round head accessories individually and more colored gel options are available too.The larger head also means that V1 can not fit into the excellent S-type brackets which has an umbrella mount and an industry standard Bowens mount.The zoom range is limited compared with many other speed lights.The channel scan is a really neat feature that searches for the best channel to set all your lights to to avoid interference and the build in LED modelling lamp is a nice feature.So overall, a really great addition if you already have a Godox set up. I felt that the initial availability of compatible accessories limited its flexibility but almost all of these gaps have been filled by Godox or 3rd parties over the last few months.

    BEST FLASH EVERI am a professional photographer and has used a lot of different flashes over the years. I kept hearing that Godox was the best but didn’t want to spend the money. After my other flash failed to fire at an event several times, I bought this one. I AM IN LOVE. The quality is awesome. The pictures are awesome. The flash didn’t fail once. I was worried about the battery life. The info says the battery lasts for 500 fires. I took about 300 pictures and the battery was still at 2/3. I will buy a second battery to be safe though for future events.

    I wish I’d waited to invest in these…I am in love with the Godox flashes & wish I had waited and invested in them sooner, instead of investing a smaller amount in cheaper flashes. My favorite feature is that the battery is locked in to the flash, as opposed to having to plug in 4 AA batteries. Trust me – bumping into objects or hitting yourself hard in the leg with flashes during wedding receptions can cause you to lose your AA batteries all over the floor. Whoops! Leveling up with a single battery that is locked in! My other favorite feature lies within using the dome light diffuser add-on (purchased separately) that magnetically clips on to the flash head. You do have to be careful not to bang in to objects with those, but they really help create more beautiful lighting spread over your subjects. I also would recommend purchasing at least 1 additional battery per flash, especially if you cover weddings.My only “dislike” is that these flashes are a bit heavier and bulkier than my cheaper flashes. Worth the trade-off for peace of mind, though!Thanks for another quality product, Godox!

    Sold my Nikon flashes and bought these….I needed a reliable flash for weddings. I had a destination wedding in southern France that I could.not.mess.up.I had bought 2 Nikon SB-5000 flashes and the dang things froze up on me at a wedding so I knew I could not trust them at a much larger event and I was getting sick and tired of how fast they blew through batteries (the battery pack for them crapped out on me).I bought the Godox V-1s on a recommendation from a friend who I trust. I was so happy with them the first test we did that I ordered more batteries and have never looked back. These things performed through every event since like champs. Absolutely love them.

    Price low. Quality HIGH! BUY BUY BUY!!!!At almost 1/3 of the price of the profoto A1, this flash is unbelievable! I am a professional photographer and photograph weddings for 99% of my business. It’s really important to have speed lights that are reliable and this one, absolutely, is just that. It’s accurate on TTL and the refresh rate is amazing. Going back to what I said in my first sentence, – this is an incredible deal but more importantly an incredible piece of equipment – and a must have addition to the camera bag for both beginning and established photographers. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much (quite frankly based on price) but I wasn’t just pleasantly surprised, I was/am excited about how amazing this particular flash is! Def consider purchasing this!!! It will not let you down.

    Great for weddings and pretty much everything!This is the best flash I have ever used. I purchased 2, but will often only use one. I am a busy wedding photographer in Texas, and I was looking for something to upgrade my dinky $40 flashes. These were the best purchase i could have made.These flashes make skin tones look so creamy, and with the remote that allows you to control from wherever you are … oh man. So efficient. Worth the investment!

    Lithium Battery need I say more!This is the best on camera flash I’ve ever used with my Nikon Z6. I love the fact that the battery lasts forever, modeling light is wonderful for low light and it can keep up without over heating like my Nikon flashes. Buy the magnetic accessories you will love them.
