Possibly the best Godox strobe yet!TL/DR: Just buy it now! It’s fantastic!First of all, BIG THANKS to LETWING for having this in stock and using amazon fulfillment! I got this a day after ordering… Gotta love Amazon Prime! It came in great packaging and I got a little microfiber cloth. I can never have too many of those :)Anyway… about the V1… HOLY COW! The light quality from the bare head is smooth like butter. I do a lot of outdoor headshots and I’m pretty sure I can use the V1 as a kicker with no modifier. That’s a huge plus! As a key light, so far, I’ve used it in both silver and white medium Profoto deep umbrellas. It fills them up evenly, way better than a standard Speedlite. The light quality from this little thing is AMAZING!!!Battery life… well, it’s fantastic. I haven’t actually run the battery down all the way yet. I did seven headshot mini sessions and the battery is maybe 3/4 full. That’s pretty dang impressive. I seriously don’t know how they get so much juice in these things!The build quality is better than the other Godox speedlites I have. It’s super sturdy. The battery mechanism is sweet! I only have one battery so far, but I can tell that swapping batteries with this thing in the middle of a session or wedding will be seamless! There’s no battery door to deal with. It pops out with a single thumb push. Great design!!The buttons are all standard. They have a good feel to them. Nice and clicky. Not to hard, not too soft.The foot seems to be pretty sturdy. I’ve been using it on a standard umbrella swivel until I can get my hands on an S Bracket that works well with the new design. But the new locking mechanism is far better than the screw type on the older units. So that’s another welcome upgrade.Overall, 10/10. I’m definitely replacing my other Godox units with these V1s!

Awesome Light!This is my second speedlight (when I swore I’d never buy another one when I got my AD200), from Godox. The first was the Godox V860II-C speedlight and while it is also great, there are a few features I really like about the V1.Yes, the head is round (the photo of the girl with the guitar I connected the magnetic dome and used it off camera in the shade) and has the magnetic attachments from the AK-R1 such as the grid, gels and a bounce card, but unlike the V860, you don’t need the S-R1 adapter ring which is really cool. I’m sure other attachments may come out later as well, but they really stocked this kit, but enough about the attachments.This light has the good range for a speedlight, with a guide number of 92 feet. The recycle time was good and at full power, it boasts 650 full power pops, and I gotta say, the recycle time was pretty quick.But what I really like are two features:A secure quick attach hotshoe lock that feels more secure than the standard ring that you spin into locking position.The second thing is the channel scanner. WOW! No more going to events with DJ equipment, microwave ovens or anything else in the close range of radio frequencies and having to figure out what channel might be open to connect all your Godox lights together. Now I can scan with the V1 and program my AD200s, AD600s and V860 before setting up and have confidence that radio communication will work.I look forward to more testing but I am confident this will be a favorite soon!The second photo was bare head in direct backlighting about 6 feet away from the model.

Works but not great! Slow refresh rate.The light is bright and nicely lights the subject evenly but the refresh rate is extremely slow. Also, the battery said it was full but after a few hours of use, it wouldn’t fire anymore and when it did, it only fires once then stops and stalls. Sometimes it doesn’t fire at all and I have to turn the power on and off to make it work again. I missed tons of shots because of this. I mainly bought it to use as a trigger. I might just have to go back to canon. FYI, I use this on a canon r5.

Great equipment for the priceI really like this flash. My 1 complaint is that the rotational dail is too loose and is easy unintentionally knock it. Otherwise, I love this way better than my Canon 600ex-RT. Especially for the price.

Goodbye AA Batteries!!!!!I am a wedding and event photographer and this flash is amazing. It is lightweight, adjustable and easy to use. I love the round-headed flash that rotates and tilts. My favorite feature is the high-performance rechargeable battery. It lasted the entire photo shoot and had a quick recycling time. Goodbye to Double AA batteries. Typically, I do not have an assistant, so another great feature is that I can either mount it on my Canon Mark III 5D or use it hand-held with the X-Pro Trigger. I will be ordering the accessories next!!!! Thank you for sending this quickly….I received it just in time!

Excellent flash, money well spent!Excellent flash, especially for the money. Godox has stepped up their game with this product. Sleek design, light weight, easy to use, and works with all godox triggers. Battery life is excellent, I’ll get an easy 300 flashes out of it at half to 3/4 power. The best money I ever spent for an on camera flash.

Good valueThe menu is a bit different than the 865ii and the placement of the mode button requires me to lock it or I hit it with my forehead while shooting. Annoying but not terrible. Produces good quality light for a speed light. Led feature is handy.

Good flash for the moneyI recently used this flash on my cruise vacation. I was very please with the outcome of my pics from an on camera flash. My original plan was to use this flash as a controller for my other Godox lights because the battery last a lot longer then the AA batteries that are in the Godox Transmitter.
