Excellent budget-friendly flash, back-up for prosI’m a professional photographer (mostly events/parties), and initially purchased this as a backup flash when my Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT (which is an excellent flash) was in the shop for repair.LIKES: diffusion of light, battery can last through 3-4 hour events if shooting 1/4 power, battery not too expensive (always have two), tilt-head easy to manipulate.DISLIKES: after about a month, tilt head doesn’t stay put when shooting vertically. I use this with aAngler Godox V1 FastBox 20″ Octagonal Softbox Kit, which has a magnetic mount. On three occasions, the flash fell out of the mount. The last time the flash tube busted. Not a problem with the flash, but if you use one of these FastBoxes (which are awesome), consider adding a piece of gaff tape or a rubber band to secure.Purchased a second unit the night the one I had busted, and it was delivered the next day.Transmitter works fine, but it a little finicky. Instructions useless, found video on youtube.

Guys – this is the one! Stop looking at Newer, Yongnuo and any other third party. It took me a few years, 1000 photo booths and hundreds of weddings and moving from Guam to California to pull the trigger on this unit and I wish I did it sooner.Scott Kelbys book pushed me to get the flash off camera. As a Canon shooter I’ve used 6 foot long ETTL extension cables, I’ve dealt with 430EX 580EX and IR strobing but the line of sight made anything outdoors impossible.I’ve tried Newer brand triggers and receivers with Canom strobes and burned through hundreds of Eneloops.Eventually moved to newer brand strobes when my Canons burned out. Finally swapped to Yongnuo (which are GREAT!) And loved the versatility of Radio freq & ability to control the power of each group from the camera (trigger). But you’re still stick with AAs – lower power and flimsy light adaptors. This strobe in combination with the Trigger really helps you last during long shoots without the need of 16bay AA chargers and Eneloop pros that you probably lose all the time. The custom accessory kit that was made for it is the perfect combination and the LED model light is a welcome addition when needed. It takes all the things you can mcguyver for these third parties – and even original strobes – in a fluent system and covers all bases. If I took all the money on these other third parties and batteries I would probably be sitting on 5-6 of these units but they would probably all still be working haha.Save the money. Pull the trigger.

Powerful flash and incredible priceI bought this flash less than a year ago and it performs as all the video reviews I watched by other professional photographers indicated. It’s 90% as good and well made as the $999 ProFoto flash. I did have a problem after several months but the seller was excellent in honoring the warranty and replaced very quickly. Great seller.

Very happy with my Purchase.I am a Canon Speedlite 430EX II user, got vexed up with changes batteries all the time and misfires of flash when the batteries get hot.I have got this flash and it made my life so much easier.Positives:1) Rechargeable Li-ion Battery.2) An insanely high number of flashes using this battery. I have done a 4-hour event (not full power) with around 400 pics and there is more than half battery still left.3) Faster Recycle time due to the Li-ion battery.4) Acts as a master flash, through which you can control off-camera Godox/Flashpoint flashes. I have an AD200 and this feature was very useful to me.5) Usually, lighting is great when bouncing of the ceiling irrespective of any flash you use. The speciality of this flash is, it gives a soft light and even light when compared to other flashes when you are hitting the subjects directly. I had done this in an even as the ceiling is pretty high and I can definitely see a difference on my subjects face.Negatives:1) If you are planning to use this as an off-camera flash and you have an existing S-type Bowens Mount Bracket, this flash wouldn’t fit in it due to the round head design.2) If you have a set of gels/diffusers for your existing speedlights, they wouldn’t work with this either because of the round head. If you are planning on using these, Godox V860II might be a better option to you. Or else you can buy Godox AK-R1 kit which comes with bunch of accessories that you can use with the V1 flash.

Great product, bad quality control! This is the second one I ordered, the first came with no charger and battery. Now the second one has a broken charger, when I go to replace yet again I’m encouraged to speak to manufacturer! I need the device in two days, ppl are taking parts and returning and the company is not controlling it. Both devices had visible signs of use, I love it when I use it but for the price I do not want a used item!

I love the LED light! My favorite feature is the LED light! But one issue is that it’s a little off center, but you can unscrew the metal ring from the head and move the LED circuit board a little to one side to center it. I have 3 of these flashes, and the LEDs are all off-center to varying degrees. Now why would I care? Well I want to use it for recording video and taking pictures. Why don’t I just mount an external LED to my camera? This one turns off right before you take a picture, so it’s perfect for use as an AF assist light but then how do I use it for taking pictures? Well, all you have to do is select “disable flash” in the menu, and the LED stays on! Now I wish the Canon R6 would let you assign “flash off” to a button like you can on the Nikon Z6 II and other Nikon cameras. Anyway, just wanted to point out the LED. I hope they add this feature to their future replacement of the V860II. I just love the LED!

I wanna LOVE it but I just can’t.The quality of this flash for the price is amazing. And it really does a good job*.* when its lock works and doesn’t break my camera shoe!Ugh, I went through TWO of these and both had lock issues!! And I know what you’re thinking – maybe it’s actually my camera’s shoe that’s the issue. But NOPE, had it checked, and it never once had an issue when using my previous Canon speedlites (which I now hate compared to using the Godox), so I can only derive its the quality of the lock on the V1. My camera store confirmed this is a relatively common issue as well with this flash.Of course, I’m not learning my lesson and purchasing a different brand as replacement bc I have the accessories and a second V1 so no going back now. But I figure his review could help a customer who’s torn between two options. Maybe give it a bit more thought!

Not impressedThe flash on a off camera bracket throws shadows due to it’s circular shape and the color is not warm – after a few uses it wasn’t firing accurately and then not at all-even tho camera and flash both show charge is ready and tested at various stops and iso’s – totally inconsistent flash power when working and then not working at all. Overall, not impressed and will stick with proven brands that have been around for generations.

This is a good value. These strobes work perfectly with the Godox system. I can control everything from the XPro c transmitter. These are not as powerful as the later Canon models, but work great for the money.

Great Flash, But…I want to love this flash. All my work is off-camera Speedlights and this sounded like a great fit for my kit. But a couple of things keep me from giving it a five star rating. The big minus is attaching a remote trigger to the light. The unit has a 2.5 mm input ( the standard is 3.5mm) which is not a big problem, but I had to order an adapter to use it remotely. Why not just do it right the first time?I like the extra power over my standard lights, but had to get a Godox holder to use any of my Bowen’s modifiers. And, the controls are anything but user friendly.Lots to like about this speedlight, but also a couple of questions for the engineers on what they had in mind.
