A basic monitor with a surprisingly high-qualiy pictureI have a 4K monitor at home and use a 2K monitor at work. I ordered this monitor from Dell for my wife to use with her laptop at home. While (as expected) the quality of the display is not 4K standard, I was nonetheless impressed with how clear and sharp the screen image was once I connected it and fired it up.As is reflected in its price, this is a fairly basic, no-frills monitor. The only connections (other than the power cord connection), as shown in the description photo, are HDMI and VGA. It has no built-in speakers. It came with a VGA cable but not an HDMI cable, which surprised me but didn’t bother me because I already have more on hand than I will ever need. The monitor’s height does not adjust up and down, but the screen itself does tilt up and down.It is very light weight-wise and the base does take up very little real estate, which is a plus. I do like the thin bezel because it means no wasted space on the monitor.Setting it up was quick and simple. The post attaches to the base with a built-in screw that you tighten by hand, the other end of the post snaps into the back of the monitor while it’s still in the box, and then you simply remove it from the box and connect the cables. Be aware that the mount is not VESA standard, it’s a unique design. It came well packaged (a box in a box) and in good condition.I am giving it five stars because it is exactly what I thought it would be: a basic monitor with HD resolution. The quality of the screen is surprisingly sharp and meets my needs perfectly, and all I needed was an HDMI connection. Not including an HDMI cable was surprising but not a big deal for me.I hope this review helped….if anything changes as we use it more I will update it. Thanks for reading!

Most Bang for the buck of any 27″ monitor out there for nowFrankly, not much of a review of the screen itself because it’s perfect. Might as well be a photograph. I do note the viewing angle is so wide that it has no color or picture shifting even when you look at it totally from the side edge on. I do stream video sometime on it (Amazon Prime Video, NetFlix, etc.) and I might as well be watching a TV. I Don’t use it for gaming (I don’t do shot ’em ups or GTA stuff) so can’t comment about that. Specs look good, but gamers are super hard core about bleeding, ghosting, etc. so no opinion there. I will say that blacks are very black, which is good, not the funky dark brown/green/blotchy/yuk stuff.I had a SE2717H (prior model of this one) that died after being on 24/7 for over two years. My other SE2717H is going strong and right next to this one. Picture is awesome, I love the IPS screen and I can work all day on it with no eye strain. IPS is all I buy anymore for myself or recommend to others. There are slightly better technologies out there now, but not for the money, especially MY money.Screen height is the same as the prior model so they go next to each other just fine. It is not adjustable up and down, only tilts front to back so it needs to be matched in hit to, not adjusted to match another monitor. There are no VESA mounting holes on the back so it must sit on the desk. The bezel is paper thin on this one (about 1/2″ on the SE2717) but appears to be just under 1/4″ due to the black edge on the panel itself. For $139.99 with next day delivery, you can’t go wrong. Slight difference in the two is one is hooked up VGA and the other hooked up HDMI as they are the outputs on my PC. When I swapped the cables, the slight difference moved as well. The older model is on the left and is still running after two years being on and the new one is on the right.Packaging was the Dell box inside of a larger Amazon box with padding around the Dell box as well. I LOVE my Amazon delivery guys as the boxes always arrive without even a scratch. I have MS and now work from home exclusively and have had the Amazon guys actually carry stuff in for me. I can’t say enough good stuff about them.Ordered Sunday, and arrived by 9:00 am Monday. In time for me to hook it up in place of the dead one and start my day. Super impressed. Didn’t expect it until evening.

Problems connecting to Windows 10 / iMac.I was pretty excited to have this new monitor replace my old 2nd monitor until I tried to make it work. Set it up, plugged it in. connected the VGA cable to the computer (27″ iMac running Windows 10 in Bootcamp): nothing except “No signal.”Hmm, strange I thought. So, just in case it was a bad VGA cable out of the box, I swapped the one that came with the monitor for one I knew worked with my computer. Sorry Charlie, no luck with that either.Try 3: Let’s see what happens with an HDMI to Thunderbolt cable. Forget it, it’s Chinatown.Try 4: Let’s boot into the MacOS side of things (High Sierra) and see what happens there? Maybe it’s a Win10 quirk. Sucker.Try 5: Let’s upgrade to the latest MacOS (Mojave) and see if THAT fixes the problem. Houston we have a problem. Oh, and on top of that the upgrade to Mojave roached the Windows partition so I have that going for me too.In all cases, the desktop doesn’t even detect that the monitor is plugged in.While I’ve been trying to rebuild my desktop, I plugged it into my Macbook running Win7 and lo and be hold there is light! Indeed, the monitor works fine which means that (a) the cable is functional, (b) the monitor is functional, and (c) there’s no real reason for it not to work as an external monitor for my iMac.Gonna give it one more go and then back in the box and back to Amazon it goes.

What a price!I tend to purchase Dell for personal products but for monitors and TVs I usually try to get Samsung or Asus. However, a 27″ monitor on those brands are expensive so I thought I would gamble with this purchase since it was $100 less than what I was looking at. I am/was not disappointed! The quality of the picture is great and I couldn’t ask for more. I use it for all of my personal computing needs; however, I do not game so I cannot speak to the quality there but for everything else, definitely a winner.

ok but unremarkable for the priceThis is a big screen and certainly functional enough for work from home. It was easy to set up; though I wish the screen could be raised and lowered on the stand. I ended up propping it up on books. The cable that came with it is not great for hooking it up to a laptop as a second screen since they have screws and are more appropriate to hook up to a cpu; I was glad I had bought a separate HDMI cable. The quality is not really remarkable however; I could have bought a much cheaper 24 inch screen and been just as satisfied. The photo is just to give an idea of the size; the photo itself is poor quality so you cannot really judge the screen from it.

Colours are OKAY.This is a great monitor to do general tasks. As a designer, it helps when needing to have several applications open. However, the display colours vary incredibly and are not accurate. I would not necessarily recommend if you are constantly working with the Adobe Creative Cloud applications but it does the trick to get by if you are need of an affordable monitor. I will most likely have to invest in a better display in the future.

Great ValueIt’s great value for money. It’s almost too big for some desks, so make sure your chair can be placed back far enough that you don’t crane your neck looking up! The picture quality is crisp and clear. I just wish that it had an adjustable up & down back. That’s my only negative. It does tilt.
