Quality ITX mobo for AMD CPUBought this for my Ryzen 5900 build in an NR200P case. I was very worried at first because I read some reviews about the old BIOS not supporting Zen 3 AMD. And this particular motherboard does not seem to have support for updating BIOS with USB. Nonetheless, when I received my item (02/2022), I could see that the mobo was manufactured in late 2021, and has the latest BIOS already. So I have not experienced any compatibility issue with the my AMD 5900X.I think ASUS ROG in general is high quality, and I am glad that this motherboard has proved to be no exception. The back I/O has USB 3.1 Type C and 3.2 Type A. There is only one Type C port mind you. What really made me give a five-star review was the software support for the motherboard. You can adjust the RGB lighting on the motherboard (and update drivers) using the Armoury Crate software. This saves you from having to get all the individual drivers from all different sources. Additionally, you can use the AI Suite 3 to customize all your fans RPM under different temperature settings. This motherboard has limited fan headers, and I am not a huge fan for running 3-4 fans off of a single fan header. So I used the AIO_PUMP header for my bottom fans (12mm high from NOCTUA). The thing is that AIO_PUMP fans by default will always run at max speed so they will be really audible if you don’t adjust them. So, I am beyond glad that I have been able to use the AI Suite 3 to adjust my fans that are using the AIO_PUMP. It may take some tweaking before you find the sweet spot for performance and noise level, but having an easy-to-use software for controlling all the fans is so important for power users.

Worked out of the box with Ryzen 5700GI wanted to build a new mini-ITX build with a Ryzen APU, and initially decided to go with an ASrock Phantom Gaming ITX/TB3. Unfortunately, I lost the BIOS lottery with that board. It arrived with “P2.60”, which technically does support Ryzen 5000 out of the box, but apparently the G-series processors for all boards are different enough to warrant a newer version. For ASrock, I needed version “P2.80”.Coming back to the Asus, I was weary to purchase this product at first because of other reviews going through the same experience I have with the ASrock. For the stress of the purchasing experience, and the lack of a BIOS flashback feature, I’m taking off one star. The GIGABYTE AORUS board is the only mini-ITX x570 board I see on Amazon which seems to have this kind of feature. I would have felt so much more at ease during purchase if I new no matter what I could have a working board.Fortunately, my board says it was manufactured in December of 2021, arrived out of the box with BIOS 4021.Now that I have a working board, performance seems satisfactory thus far, and it seems I’m able to hold a PBO2 undervolt of -20 on all cores just fine thus far. Feels quality thus far.Despite me wanting the Thunderbolt connectivity from the ASrock board, I can’t take off another star since this board does also offer more connectivity in other ways. I feel like you’ll want for nothing with the connectivity this offers. The debug LEDS in the top right corner are also a nice touch.Unfortunately, the RAID drivers seem to be broken on my board. I have 2 970 PROs on both board’s NVME slots. The BIOS refuses to detect them, despite Windows and Linux detecting them just fine. Occasionally, the RAID XPert2 utility will be able to detect the drives. However, the moment you try to initialize or build an array, the BIOS freezes, and I’m forced to reboot. I’m taking off another star for that too.If you don’t want to treat this board as a mini home lab, I think this will be the board for you.

mITX board with bells and whistlesThis is a great mITX (mini) motherboard. Note, this is a small form factor PC motherboard. You need an appropriate case for this, though most will fit. This is a great board with everything you need for an SFF system. It does have 2 M.2 slots, so you could go without any standard hard drives. A couple samsung, crucial, or western digital NVME if you want bleeding edge. They really don’t make much difference if your goal is gaming, and it just depends on the room in the case you get. I’d still recommend a mechanical backup, even if it’s an external. The board also has a cooler fan for the VRM and good heatsinks. You have to disassemble the little cover plates over the VRM to get to the audio plug-in (couple tiny screws). Also, the top-side M.2 slot is covered by a plate – which has heat tape on the underside. The instruction manual explains where to look. The second M.2 slot is on the back of the motherboard. The BIOS is really easy to navigate. First hit F7 for advanced mode. If you go the NVME (M.2) drive route, be sure to enter the BIOS and turn on Compatibility Support Mode under the Boot menu. Also, if you have high clock speed memory, you need to go to the AI Tweaker menu and turn on AI Overclock Tuner to D.O.C.P. You’ll get a warning message – just click OK or Yes. The manual can be found on the ASUS web site: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-Strix-X570-I-Gaming/HelpDesk_Manual/Final system build:Case: Silverstone SST-SG13B (sg13 v2) – great SFF case – note it does not include any fansPower: EVGA supernova 550 GM – tiny, modular, 550w power supply, includes adapter plate that worked with my caseVideo: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 2080 Super – fits inside case with a little room to spare for cable managementCPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XCPU Fan: Noctua NH-L9a-AM4, very low profile – fits nicely, includes low-noise adapter cableCase Fan: Noctua 120 mm NF-R12 redux – got it on sale – fits nicely in the front of the Silverstone case – very quietMemory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB, CL16, got 2 8GB sticksLots of little zip ties =)

Marked all the check boxes on my listAsus makes great computer products. Been using them since the 2000s…Love the build quality and esthetics of their craftsmanship. You get what you paid for and I would buy from Asus again.

Had issues at first but works good now.Had a little trouble putting it all together, but nothing too major. Like the other reviews say, the m.2 heatsink screw is very fragile. I personally did not hate any trouble with it, but it was only because I was EXTREMELY cautious with it after reading the reviews. I hat a small screwdriver that fit it perfectly. With all the assembly stuff put aside, here’s my experience with the board. I had a lot of issues with the audio drivers. My friends would not be able to hear me on discord without my voice fading out. I wasn’t able to figure out what it was. A few months later, I started experiencing blue screens. I suspected the motherboard, so I switched out with my previous one. Eventually I figured out it was a RAM issue so I switched back to this motherboard with a clean install of windows and used the CD provided to install the drivers. I never downloaded the newer audio drivers from the asus website. The motherboard has not given me issues since. Although I did still have some audio issues, I solved them using the sonic studio software provided. The motherboard runs pretty hot. My temps at start up are between 36° and 50°. It goes from 45°-60° during light usage and the most I’ve hit while game was 72°. That could possibly be because my case fans aren’t the best. Another factor could be because I have my radiator mounted on the back, but it’s the only way I can fit all my fans in the case for now.Only downside I give it is that there’s no USB-C plug, so my case just has a USB C port that doesn’t work. I didn’t need it at first, but recently I have. If I realized this sooner I would have went with the B550.

ROG delivered again with newly patched BIOS for Ryzen Zen 3 CPU ready out of the box. This is an amazing motherboard with debug LEDs individually color coded for easy see through the case without needing to remove panel or parts to see which LED is which, superb CPU overclocking capabilities with active cooling VRM. Onboard SupremeFX sound cards with individual color coded LEDs helps differentiate even in the dark room. Tons of USB 3.2 available along with a USB type-C for further extend the compatibility with a dongle for other accessories. IO shield is padded with a thick yet very comfortable piece of soft material. They even factory updated the BIOS for compatibility with Ryzen 3rd gen CPUs ready out of the box. The metal backplate for maximum cooling. 2 M.2 next gen storages to further push the limit of HDD and SATA Solid state drives while yielding the space needed for small form factor cases, which this ITX board is intended to be built in. All and all the board feels very premium. Support up to PCIE 4.0, Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, ROG GameFirst technology keeps you ahead of competitors. Their prices in general is slightly higher than other B550 and X570 boards out there in the market but are backed by their second to none materials and functions. All the plugs are clearly labeled and detailed motherboard map layout in the Instructions Manual which is well illustrated using images and clear legends which allows even a very novice to build his own PC. Asus ITX boards are very well featured and standing out especially comparing to their bigger brothers of the ROG motherboards family. It wouldn’t be exaggerating to state that ROG ITX motherboards are “Premium quality comes in small packages.” They didn’t just trim the board down and take out important features. When it comes to performance, ROG lines never cutting any corner. They promised performance and that is exactly what you can expect them to deliver.

Attach some cables before installation.Getting back into the board to attach the case audio header was a huge pain and the manual doesn’t make it easy to tell where to look. There’s a diagonal plastic cover on the top that has some pins a cm or two below. Attach the adapter that comes with that fits that before you put the cooler or gpu riser on, it’ll make your life easier. The fan software built in is not great, but FanControl is free on Github makes that not an issue. Before installing this, on your old motherboard either call microsoft and tell them you are switching motherboards, google how to copy your key and see if that still works, or tie your current key to your microsoft account (I took this route). That way you don’t have to re-buy windows.

Good mini-ITX board, but be warned, it does not have BIOS FLASHBACKThe board itself when running is actually pretty good, minus a couple things:-It came with a sticker advertising being compatible with 5000 series AMD cpus out of the box. Tried to boot it with a 5900x, no dice. After troubleshooting it for a while, it turned out to have an older bios that didn’t support the new cpu. There’s a cool feature the ROG boards have called flashback, where you load up a bios on a USB drive and press the flashback button while powering the board on and it’ll update the bios for you. Guess what this board doesn’t have? If you need this feature like I did, don’t get this board. I ended up having to drive to a Microcenter and have them update it for $30.-The onboard RGB on the NVME heatsink and the right side of the board never seems to turn off. Even after downloading AuraSync, the rgb isn’t recognized and just continues to slowly breathe on and off. There has to be some way to change it, but I haven’t figured out how at this point.Overall it’s a good mini-ITX board, just be prepared to ask a friend (or repair service) to update your bios for you, because Asus decided not to have an important feature on a higher end board for whatever reason. Also wish the Aura Sync software would recognize the board RGB too.

So far so goodSo I was a bit hesitant at first after seeing some of the previous reviews, but at this point I think its a gamble for each purchase for everyone (which is scary). However, I can say that I have not have had any bad hiccups as of yet and everything works from the get go. I would just say 2 things:1) If you’re looking for gaming for the most part, I would advise the B550 variants as it would game just as good at a better value of money2) And if you really still do want this X570 variant or any other at that, keep an eye out for some sort of sale as I don’t think its worth it at full retail price (which is the reason why I got it)Other than that just double check that you’re purchasing not only is it brand new, but also its sold directly from Amazon so that if anything does happen to it like dead on arrival it should be easier to return/refund. Best wishes everyone!!!!
