You can make Face ID slightly more responsive and faster on iPhone and iPad Pro. Here’s how you do it.
If Your’e Willing to Sacrifice a Little Bit of Security (Honestly, Don’t) then You Can Make Face ID Faster on iPhone and iPad
If you’ve been using Face ID for a while, then you already know that it is ‘fast enough.’ Sure, there is slight room for improvement, but the slowdown is actually there as a security measure, ensuring it is actually you who is unlocking the device and no one else. This means you have to look straight onto your iPhone or iPad and requires your complete attention. Not a big problem for a lot of users out there.
What if it is a problem for you?
Well, in that case, you can actually tone down on those attention seeking features, allowing you to unlock your device without actually having to look right at your iPhone or iPad every single time. The cost? Lesser security, obviously. Someone can literally flash your own phone at your face while you’re not even looking and it will be instantly unlocked. That’s the sort of thing which can be a complete nightmare or absolutely no issue at all, depending on your take on security.
However, if you’re all about unlocking your iPhone or iPad quickly using Face ID, then here’s what you need to do.
Step 1. Assuming you have Face ID set up properly, launch the Settings app from your iPhone or iPad Home Screen.
Step 2. Tap on Accessibility.
Step 3. Now tap on Face ID & Attention.
Step 4. Disable the option that is called Require Attention for Face ID. You will be required to enter your device PIN code so please enter it when asked.
That’s it, from this moment forward, Face ID will instantly unlock your iPhone or iPad even if you aren’t paying full attention to your device. Sure, that is a massive convenience if you find yourself unlocking your phone millions of times during the day, however, the reduced security is a huge tradeoff.
Again, I will not recommend turning off these features at all if you value your security and privacy. But if you still make the choice to turn these features off for a slightly faster Face ID experience then that is entirely up to you. We will not be held responsible if something goes wrong.
